material performed all over the word, the contents of this album represent
my response to a church that has inspired a mixture of love and irritation
in me since I first became a Christian. Silliness and subtle Pharisaism
still dog our attempts to understand and convey the wonderful, mystical
ordinariness of God's desire to be a Father to his people. How a boringly orthodox
Christian like me ended up using humor as a counter to these negative
influences is beyond my understanding, but my journey through the last two
decade has certainly been a rewarding and fascinating one."
